Microsoft HealthVault

Turning a personal health record into a movement

Role

Account Director and integrated campaign lead at HL2, 2009

15%+Registration lift documented by MarketingSherpa
2009Viral Marketing Hall of Fame inductee
6Connected digital and social activation layers

Executive summary

Make an unfamiliar personal health record platform feel relevant, empowering and worth joining before digital health became everyday language.

The challenge

What needed
to change.

Microsoft HealthVault asked people to trust a new digital platform with deeply personal information at a moment when electronic health records were unfamiliar, politically charged and difficult to explain.

The insight

The unlock.

A conventional product campaign would have made the technology feel even more distant. I Am Enabled reframed the platform as personal agency: understand the healthcare stakes, take control of your information and join a larger movement toward better digital health.
